2nd April – Joe Topping

Irvine folk club is delighted to welcome a new act to the club this Wednesday the 2nd April, Joe Topping a fantastic folksinger and songwriter and multiinstrumentalist from Liverpool whose singing and guitar playing regularly moves listeners to tears. His charismatic stage presence and engaging stories have entertained audiences all over the country and all across Europe, including live sessions on BBC Radio 2, ITV television, The National Film Awards and a showcase at SXSW in Texas.

19th March – The Lanarkshire Songwriters Group

Irvine Folk club looks forward to welcoming the Lanarkshire Songwriters Group Wednesday the 19th March. Originally the date was booked for the group Haggerdash but since they disbanded we decided to invite Billy Stewart from Haggerdash along with his group of fellow singer/songwriters from Lanarkshire.  Established in 1997, the Lanarkshire Songwriters Group perform in a wide genre of styles including contemporary, blues, country and traditional. 

19th Feb – Kenny Speirs

Irvine Folk club is looking forward to welcoming back Scottish folksinger and songwriter, Kenny Speirs, a firm favourite, who has guested the club and folk festival many times before.

“Kenny Speirs’ lifetime in music is legendary. His songs and voice resonate from the Scottish Borders and beyond across the folk music world. He has been there and done it. A proper master of his craft.”

5th Feb – Iona Fyfe

Irvine Folk club look forward to welcoming Iona Fyfe, a Scottish folk singer from Huntly, Aberdeenshire. 
In 2016, she was a semi-finalist of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and, in 2017 and 2021, was a finalist of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician award. In 2018, she won “Scots Singer of the Year” at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. 

11th Dec – John Graham, Jim Jack and Cy Jack

The 11th of December is the final club night before Christmas and we’re looking forward to a night of great music and entertainment from John Graham & Jim Jack bringing with them Cy Jack. A great combination of music and songs for singing. We’ll be starting the club back up on January the 8th 2025.

27th Nov – Tom McConville & Michael Biggins

Irvine Folk club is delighted to welcome back two favourites of the club, Tom McConville and Michael Biggins, BBC Folk Musician Of The Year and Michael Biggins, BBC Scottish Trad Musician of the Year. 

“Tom ‘s fiddle and Michael’s piano and Accordion playing is amongst the finest there is, powerful and exciting with a range of songs performed in great style. They have a range of music including Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass and Jazz and songs all performed with a great sense of style, verve and humour!”

13th Nov – George Murphy and Frank Cassidy

Irvine Folk club is looking forward to welcoming from Northern Ireland George Murphy and Frank Cassidy to the club this Wednesday night 13th November at 8pm.

The duo who have been touring together for a number of years consists of George Murphy a former member of the Failte Folk Group on vocals, guitar, harmonica, bodhran and tin whistle and Frank Cassidy on bouzouki, guitar and vocals.

2nd Oct – Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter

Irvine Folk Club is delighted to welcome the English folk duo Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter this Wednesday 2nd October.

“Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter have been writing, performing and bickering together for nearly 20 years. They have produced 4 studio albums of songs about shipyards, prostitutes, trips to the seaside, self-deprecating amusing songs and protest anthems. They are an absolute one off. They have a quirky and distinctive style, with Brian’s unusual and accomplished guitar technique the perfect accompaniment to Sally’s unique voice. They love what they do, and their aim is to entertain, with songs that make you laugh, or cry, or just think.”

18th Sep – Karen Pfeiffer & Paul Walker

 

Irvine Folk club looks forward to a return visit from the Anglo-German duo that is Karen Pfeiffer & Paul Walker. “With two grand voices – individually and in harmony” (Folker-German Folk Magazine), the Anglo-German duo Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer offer a versatile miscellany of self-penned and imaginatively arranged songs, delivered with guitar, woodwind instrumentation and occasional percussion.

4th Sep – Forgaitherin

REMEMBER NEW VENUE:

On the 4th of September first night in the new venue Irvine folk club looks forward to a return visit from Scottish folk group Forgaitherin. The band is based in North East Fife and consists of Hamish Grant, Lesley & Hugh Toner, and John Reid. They are known for their strong vocals and harmonies, performing a mix of traditional and contemporary songs.
